Mark McGrath, former singer of the rock band Sugar Ray, has made a number of television appearances since finishing up with his music career, and some people think he’s been looking a bit different lately. Rumors have begun to surface within the past couple of years about the former celebrity undergoing plastic surgery, but McGrath has publicly denied them. Early in 2018, McGrath issued a tweet stating that he is “naturally beautiful” and that he has “NEVER” undergone a procedure of cosmetic surgery. In all honesty, the social media statement did seem a little bit defensive – hiding something, perhaps? Not everyone was convinced by the tweet, so the jury’s still out on whether it’s the truth or not.

A couple of professional cosmetic surgeons have actually weighed in on pictures comparing McGrath’s face at the height of his fame to his current look, and they seem to think he’s had some surgery done. Dr. Paul Nassif, a plastic surgeon situated in Beverly Hills, stated that he suspects McGrath of a rhinoplasty, as well as Botox and facial fillers. Dr. Michael Salzhaur, a plastic surgeon situated in Miami, seems to agree – he said that McGrath probably hasn’t had any cosmetic surgery outside of rhinoplasty. It’s important to remember, however, that while these doctors are professionals, they do not have access to McGrath’s personal medical history – their opinions, while certainly very informed, are only opinions.

McGrath’s face certainly does seem to indicate that it hasn’t quite aged organically – his features do appear slightly unnatural, especially around his nose and mouth. Of course, whether or not his face has been surgically altered may never be known – there’s no way to prove whether or not he’s undergone surgery unless he publicly admits to it himself. If he is being dishonest about his surgical history, it certainly wouldn’t be the first time a celebrity has lied about plastic surgery. If he has undergone plastic surgery, it’s hard to judge him for doing so. It must be incredibly stressful to age under the public eye, and it would be a perfectly natural desire to want to hide the signs of time from the audience. It’s hard to imagine hundreds of thousands of people judging you on your appearance and issuing opinions on whether or not you look good.

At least McGrath hasn’t undergone anything too drastic – if he has undergone plastic surgery, it hasn’t been anything incredibly obvious or noticeable. He’s still recognizable, and the rumors of surgery remain just that – rumors. He hasn’t gone overboard in his pursuit of youthful beauty. In fact, if he has undergone a rhinoplasty, he hasn’t actually done anything too out of the ordinary. Rhinoplasty is actually becoming a fairly common procedure – more and more people who aren’t celebrities are turning to rhinoplasty as it becomes safer and easier to perform. Whether or not McGrath has had this procedure, it’s his own personal business and we may never know the truth for sure. But it is definitely fun to speculate!
